Getting Your Man to Propose With Estate Jewelry

If you are a woman waiting to be proposed to then this is a highly frustrating experience. This is a time in your life when you have very little control and it's up to the man to do the asking and to take the relationship to the next level (unless of course, it happens to be a leap year). There is also a big element of secrecy surrounding the whole ordeal and of surprise which means you can ask about it and which means you can't drop hints or make suggestions. So the worry is very understandably there... what if he gets it wrong?

This applies to many aspects of the wedding, he might not ask the Father either, or he might not propose at all... all big mistakes, but worse, what if he gets the ring wrong? How do you go about hinting at the ring you want? And what if he spends far too much money?

One thing to consider right away is letting your guy propose estate jewellery. There is lots of incredibly nice estate jewellery for sale, and no one would ever know that it was second hand. Most guys have too much pride or are too afraid of their girlfriends to consider estate jewellery for sale, but in fact, it often makes a lot more sense and it means that you get something much nicer and something that won't be obscenely expensive meaning you have no money left for the wedding. It's really worth considering.

There are many ways to hint that estate jewellery is okay. For instance, you can mention that someone you knew had a second-hand ring for a proposal and that you were okay with it because it meant that it was a far more impressive ring (which is what really counts of course). You can also try just taking your man out and then swinging by estate buyers. If you find good estate buyers they will likely display some of their estate jewellery for sale in the window and you can just pause and look at the window to let the guy know that you like what's on offer and you can drop in at this point how much sense it makes to propose with a second-hand ring.

You also need to make sure he buys the right estate jewellery though, and this is another reason to use the latter tact. Take your guy to a store 'accidentally' and then discuss the best rings with him in a way that isn't too threatening. You should also tell your friends and any relatives the kind of ring you want so that if he tells them he is thinking of proposing they can then give him the best advice. This is a great strategy and means he can't really go wrong, but it also makes sense to tell some of his friends that your friends know... he's likely to talk to them even if he doesn't talk to yours, so if you let his guy mates know they can then advise that he ask your sister or BFF for more advice. Or of course, you could just talk to the local estate jewellery seller before...
